Get Out of the Car and on the Train: Ski Vacations to Colorado and Montana

December 11th, 2008 by skigreenguy | Filed under Green Ski Transportation, How to Ski Green, Ski Resorts, United States.

Never traveled by train in the United States? It’s a great break from overstuffed planes and airport waiting lines. RMA Travel and Tours offers Amtrak train packages to ski resorts in Colorado and Montana. Serving Colorado resorts including Winter Park, Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, as well as Whitefish Resort in Montana.

Just Another Amtrak Line to Whitefish

An article at Rustic Girls gives rave reviews to traveling by train with your family. You can read, catch up with your spouse and spend time with your kids. Tired of sitting? Walk around the train, get a meal in the Dining Car or a snack from the Cafe Car (try that on a 737). You’ll see some of the best scenery in the west–much of it can only be seen from the train.

It’s a great ski deal: package prices to Whitefish Montana start at $669 per person (based on double occupancy) including round trip coach rail fare from Minneapolis or Chicago, transfers; 5 nights lodging, a 4 day lift ticket taxes. Check the RMA Travel website for details on other destinations. Substantial discounts available for children 18 years and younger. Longer stays and sleeper compartment upgrades on Amtrak are available upon request.
